A retired U.S. Army officer has indicated that Iran may be increasingly relying on previously concealed military stockpiles as pressure mounts on its conventional capabilities amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region.
Speaking during an interview on Fox News on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Darin Gaub said there are growing signs that Iranian forces have begun retrieving older military equipment hidden in remote locations, including desert areas, in an effort to sustain operations.
The move suggests that Iran is attempting to compensate for losses sustained during recent engagements, as well as limitations on its ability to replenish advanced systems under ongoing pressure. While he cautioned that such efforts would not restore Iran’s previous level of military capability, he said they could still pose tactical challenges.
According to him, “I think you have to account for the fact that they are going to be resting and refitting their forces as best they can —the same way, by the way, that we are on the assumption that there may be a continuation of hostilities. I hope it doesn’t happen. We’ve already seen Iran starting to dig out some of its older materiel from the desert floor, buried in sand, and trying to reuse it. They are not going to return to what they were before, but I have no doubt they are getting support from some allies.”…..See More
