Iran Demands War Reparations From Five Arab States

According to a report by Anadolu News Agency on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the development was confirmed in a letter submitted by Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, who addressed both the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council. In the document, Tehran accuses Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan of facilitating or enabling what it describes as unlawful military actions carried out against Iran.

According to the Iranian position, the five states allegedly allowed their territories to be used in operations linked to United States and Israeli military activity. Tehran further argues that this involvement makes the countries legally responsible for damages sustained during the conflict, including both material destruction and civilian losses.

Iran is now demanding full compensation, describing the request as “reparations” for what it considers internationally wrongful acts. The Iranian delegation maintains that the affected states violated obligations under international law by either directly participating in, or indirectly supporting, the attacks. Tehran insists that responsibility extends beyond the primary actors to any state it believes contributed to the operational environment of the strikes.

The countries named in the demand, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan have not issued a unified response at this stage. However, all five have previously rejected allegations that they played any role in facilitating attacks against Iran, maintaining that their territories are not used for hostile operations against other states.

The dispute comes amid broader instability in the region, where recent escalations have already strained diplomatic relations and raised concerns over wider military confrontation. Analysts note that the latest demand adds a new legal and political dimension to an already volatile situation, shifting the focus toward questions of state responsibility and accountability under international law.
