According to a report published by Daily Post on Monday, June 10, 2024, Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested 27-year-old Oluchi Nzemechi for the murder of her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, over an alleged failure to share proceeds from internet fraud.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, revealed this development on Monday while parading the suspect. Oluchi, a native of Uzoagba in Ikeduru, Imo State, was apprehended following a thorough investigation that confirmed she stabbed Kelechi to death.
The incident arose from a dispute over a substantial sum obtained through internet fraud. According to the police, the couple had defrauded a victim in Indonesia of 250 million Rupiah, approximately 16 million Naira. Oluchi accused Kelechi of withholding her share of the illicit proceeds, leading to a heated argument.
“The suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that her lover lured her into internet fraud, commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’,” stated the police. “During the argument on Thursday, she used a kitchen knife to stab him on the upper part of his body.”
In an attempt to cover up her crime, Oluchi wrote a threatening note and placed it on Kelechi’s lifeless body. The note read: “You think you can eat my money and go free, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family.
Oluchi revealed she had been living with Kelechi since 2019 and had a child with him. The police are now working to recover the fraudulently obtained 250 million Rupiah for possible return to the rightful owner………See More
