“I Was 40 Years When My Husband Died, But At Twenty-Four I Had Already Bought My Own Car”-Funmilayo Omikunle

Funmilayo Omikunle, a deeply inspirational Nollywood actress and lifelong entrepreneur who became a widow at forty and single-handedly raised her children to become successful graduates, opened up about the profound personal challenges she faced after losing her husband during an interview on Abiola Adebayo’s “Talk to B” show. She credited her fierce independence and exceptional work ethic for her ability to keep the family standing.

She revealed that her marriage lasted just under twenty-one years because she had married quite early in life. Following her husband’s passing, Funmilayo Omikunle had to rely entirely on herself, using her multiple income streams to ensure her family did not suffer any form of financial hardship.

According to the actress, she had always been a highly ambitious and progressive woman, even shocking her husband by purchasing her first car at the age of twenty-four. She credited her strong drive to succeed, coupled with her deliberate effort to avoid unnecessary trouble, for her ability to thrive as a single mother.

She said: “I was young when my husband died. I was just forty years old. And I have children, I have to take care of them. The marriage was not up to twenty-one years. So I married quite early. Since that time, I have been by myself. And myself, I love to work. I love things that are progressive. I bought my car when I was twenty-four. My husband was surprised. I love being a virtuous woman. And I love to avoid trouble. That is another thing. I love to avoid trouble. I made sure that I provided for my home and my children.”……See More
