NATO Was Not There When We Wanted Them; We Do Not Need NATO, But If We Did They Won’t Be There -Trump

According to a video on Fox News, on Tuesday May 11, 2026, President Donald Trump expressed sharp criticism of NATO, stating that the alliance failed to provide support when the United States needed it, while simultaneously insisting that American military strength is sufficient to operate without the alliance’s involvement.

The remark came during a press gaggle ahead of Trump’s travel to China. A reporter asked the president to compare the state of NATO and OPEC, inviting him to assess which of the two organizations is in greater difficulty.

Trump’s answer focused primarily on NATO and reflected a degree of frustration with what he characterized as the alliance’s absence during a critical moment.
