The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has quietly enlisted foreign proxy militias to operate checkpoints, and patrol neighborhoods alongside Iranian security forces, signaling growing domestic fragility as the regime struggles to suppress civilian unrest without relying on outside help.

According to a report made by the Jerusalem Post on Sunday, 10 May 2026, a top Western media outlet, reported that members of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), known in Arabic as Hashd al-Shaabi have been spotted conducting vehicle searches, and enforcing strict hijab regulations in multiple Iranian cities, pointing to an unprecedented deployment of non-Persian speaking fighters inside the Islamic Republic.

The media outlet also reported that one Tehran resident, revealed that the composition of local checkpoint personnel had changed noticeably in recent nights, saying “Before it was just Basij [militia], but now the composition has changed. He also added”They wear Hashd al-Shaabi uniforms and only communicate with gestures and a few broken words of Arabic or Persian. It’s like they have no restrictions. Even the Iranians don’t say anything to them.”

The Telegraph also noted that the Afghan Fatemiyoun militia has also been deployed alongside the PMF, further underscoring the reliance of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on their network of regional proxies to maintain internal order.

Similarly, a residents of Karaj, a city west of Tehran, described similar encounters with foreign personnel who allegedly show less restraint than their Iranian counterparts, and rely almost exclusively on gestures and Arabic phrases to communicate.

Meanwhile, a social media analyst Effi Banai, speaking to Israeli radio station in late April, said footage emerging from Iran depicts a regime under mounting pressure, further explaining “We see the pressure on the regime on social media. They have brought in militias from abroad, from Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.”

He also described armed fighters traveling in trucks, often in civilian clothing and carrying machine guns, adding that locals readily notice the linguistic difference and comment on it across social platforms……See More
