According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 1, 2026, Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, has said that Tehran is still open to talks with the United States, but only on the condition that no pressure or imposed terms are involved. His comments come at a time when tensions remain high and the prospects for diplomacy are being closely watched.
In a video released by the judiciary’s Mizan Online outlet, Ejei reaffirmed Iran’s long-held stance on negotiations. “The Islamic Republic has never shied away from negotiations… but we certainly do not accept imposition,” he said, making it clear that any dialogue must be based on equality rather than coercion.
He also spoke about the danger of further escalation, saying Iran does not support war in any form. “We do not welcome war in any way; we do not want war, we do not want its continuation,” he stated, framing Tehran’s position as one that prefers calm, not conflict.
Still, Ejei insisted that Iran will not give up its core principles. He said the country is “absolutely not willing to abandon our principles and values in the face of this malicious enemy to avoid war or prevent its continuation,” suggesting that any future negotiations would come with firm limits and clear red lines.
Ejei also argued that the United States did not succeed in achieving its aims during the conflict. He said Washington got “nothing” from the war and maintained that Iran would not “back down” in any upcoming talks, sending a message of defiance as diplomatic uncertainty continues…..See More
