According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 1, 2026, Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, has stated that Tehran remains willing to engage in discussions with the United States, but firmly rejects any form of pressure or dictated terms. His remarks come amid heightened tensions and ongoing scrutiny of diplomatic prospects between the two countries.
In a video published by the judiciary’s Mizan Online outlet, Ejei emphasized Iran’s longstanding position on dialogue. “The Islamic Republic has never shied away from negotiations… but we certainly do not accept imposition,” he said, underscoring that talks must be conducted on equal footing rather than under coercion.
He also addressed concerns about escalating conflict, reiterating Iran’s opposition to war. “We do not welcome war in any way; we do not want war, we do not want its continuation,” he stated, presenting Tehran’s stance as one that favors stability over confrontation.
At the same time, Ejei made clear that Iran would not compromise on its core beliefs. He stressed that the country is “absolutely not willing to abandon our principles and values in the face of this malicious enemy to avoid war or prevent its continuation,” signaling that any diplomatic engagement would have clear limits.
Ejei further claimed that the United States failed to achieve its objectives during the conflict.
