GCC Chief Warns: Failure To End Iran War Will Trigger Severe Consequences Far Beyond Gulf Borders

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council has issued a stark warning that continued warfare with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei could spiral into a global catastrophe, urging all parties to pursue diplomatic solutions before it is too late.

According to a report made by the TRT on Sunday, 19 April, 2026, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Albudaiwi while speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, emphasized that Gulf states have long sought stable relations with Tehran, and remain committed to finding a peaceful off-ramp from the current crisis, noting that the Gulf Arab states’ pursuit of normalized ties with Iran is far from a recent development.

He also said “Our attempt to normalize and have a decent relationship with Iran is not something new,” pointing to multiple initiatives over the years.

Albudaiwi also stressed that the six-nation bloc is seeking a true partner in Tehran, one that actively supports regional peace and stability rather than undermining it through proxies or military posturing.

The GCC Chief, Jassem Albudaiwi went further to warned that failure to end the ongoing Iran’s war would trigger severe consequences extending far beyond the Gulf’s borders, saying “A partner that believes in peace and stability. A partner that believes that whatever will happen will affect the whole world.”

He also described the kind of relationship Gulf states hope to build with Iran, reflecting a growing consensus among Arab monarchies that military confrontation serves no one’s long-term interests.

Albudaiwi also said “What we hope for now is the success of the dialogue … otherwise God knows what will happen. All the international community needs to use the leverage to reach a peaceful solution,” warning that failure would amount to a disaster not only for the Gulf region, but for the entire world.
