The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye has spoken about the incident where the Edo State Public Relations officer referred to Senator Monday Okpebholo as ‘One Monday.’ following the attack on Senator Okpebholo’s convoy in Benin.
The CP stated that the IGP alongside other Senior police officials has found this behaviour troubling and unacceptable. He revealed that appropriate disciplinary action is being enforced against the offending officer. He reiterated that such a lapse in respect is not characteristic of the police force’s values and is deeply regretted.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”We respect people no matter the class the person belong to. The PRO referred to the distinguished Senator as ‘One Monday’. It is not in our character to do that and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun was disturbed and myself and other Senior members of the police were disturbed about this.
And I want to use this opportunity to correct that almost unpardonable error. The Senator is a serving and distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We hold him in high esteem as a distinguished Senator. So that error is highly regretted and appropriate sanction is being melted out on the erring police officer.”….Seē _ Morē
