The publicity secretary of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee, Chibuike Ikenga, has discussed the divisions that exist within the Rivers State House of Assembly at the moment.
Ikenga claimed that Governor Fubara promptly disregarded the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the subject, according to a report that was just published by Punch. According to him, Fubara made it known that he only views the members of the House of Assembly led by Oko-Jumbo as legitimate legislators in the state.
Ikenga also stated that in spite of the Court of Appeal’s decision, Governor Fubara proclaimed that the 27 lawmakers who had declared their defection to the APC had lost their seats. Additionally, he voiced worries that Governor Fubara will disregard the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government authority.
In Ikenga’s words: “It is important to note that the Court of Appeal gave a judgment and that same day, governor Fubara came on air to say that he does not recognise any other person than his selected Oko-Jumbo and a committee of friends as the leadership of the House of Assembly, and he said the (27) House of Assembly members are gone irrespective of the position of the Court of Appeal’s judgment”….Seē _ Morē
