The design was conceived as an homage to the classic mythological picture of a gigantic serpent with two enormous heads. The two enormous teeth at the mouth of the serpent function as the doorway.
After the kingdom’s demise, the Cameroonian government turned the palace into a museum in an effort to profit from its historical significance and attract visitors from all over the world.
