According to a report by LEADERSHIP NEWS. Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the President of the 8th Senate, has praised the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse the Federal High Court’s 2018 ruling in the matter of Melrose General Services Limited, which involved allegations of N3.5 billion in fraud.
Saraki claimed the ruling supported his previous claims that the case was politically motivated and a covert attempt to discredit him for his election as Senate President during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, the former Senate President made this claim on Friday in a statement signed by his Head of Media, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu. A copy of the statement was sent to journalists in Abuja.
Remember that on April 27, 2018, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) got a judgment for the final forfeiture of N1.4 billion, which it alleged a company called Melrose General Services Limited had falsely received from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
Melrose is purportedly associated with Saraki, the former Senate President, who was embroiled in a political dispute with certain influential figures in the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.…….See More
