The G-60 opposition lawmakers in Rivers State have reacted with dismay to the recent Appeal Court ruling that quashed the sack of 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on behalf of the group, Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere, in a video shared by TVC News, expressed their disappointment and frustration with the court’s decision. He alleged that despite affidavits and proceedings confirming their departure from the PDP, they are still being forced to fight in court due to the interests of a single individual.
Ugochinyere further alleged that some members of the group are being targeted and framed for serious crimes such as murder, rape, and terrorism simply because they are speaking truth to power and standing up for what is right.
The lawmakers vowed not to be intimidated and will continue to seek justice through legal means. They also called on the public to stand with them in their fight against oppression and tyranny.
In his words;
“Even with affidavit that they’ve left even when there’s no division. Even with the proceedings, they’re still fighting because one man somewhere wants them to fight. Are we all going to run away because of somebody’s interest?. The other day when the news broke out of plan to frame some of us for murder, rape and terrorism because we’re speaking truth to power and saying the right thing?”
