There have been several reactions from Social media users after a photo of a page from The Independent Newspaper published on November 6, 1979 surfaced online.
The photo of the newspaper was shared in a post made by Nigeria Stories on their official X handle on Tuesday.
The newspaper article revealed that Shehu Shagari’s yearly salary was N50,000 after he was elected as the first democratically elected president of Nigeria following the transfer of power from military head of state General Olusegun Obasanjo. Also the salaries of the Vice President, the Senate President and the speaker of the House of representative as at that time were revealed.
