According to Channels Television, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alausa Police Station has addressed the protesters participating in the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations. The DPO, in her statement, urged the protesters to relocate to Gani Fawehinmi Park, the designated area for airing their grievances, as Alausa is not an authorized protest location.
The #EndBadGovernance protest, which has gained substantial momentum on social media, was initially planned to cover several locations. However, in her address to the crowd, the DPO emphasized the importance of adhering to designated protest zones to maintain public order and ensure the safety of both protesters and residents.
According to her, “While we recognize your right to protest and air your grievances, it is crucial that we do so in a manner that ensures the safety and orderliness of our community. Alausa is not a designated location for this protest. We ask that you move to Gani Fawehinmi Park, where you can peacefully express your concerns,” the DPO stated.
Her directive comes amid rising tensions and a significant police presence in Alausa, aimed at preventing any potential escalation of the protests. The police have been on high alert following warnings of possible disruptions and have been working to ensure that demonstrations remain peaceful and controlled.
The DPO’s call for relocation to Gani Fawehinmi Park is intended to provide a safe space for protesters to gather and voice their demands without disrupting the daily activities of Alausa’s residents and businesses. She assured the protesters that their rights to demonstrate would be respected as long as they followed the guidelines set out by the authorities.
Protesters, while initially resistant, have shown a willingness to comply with the DPO’s directive, recognizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful and orderly demonstration. “We are here to make our voices heard, not to cause chaos,” said one protester. “We will move to Gani Fawehinmi Park as requested, but our demands remain unchanged.”….Seē _ Morē
