According to Punch, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a stern warning to an unidentified lawmaker who criticized his successes as FCT Minister. During the inauguration of the Mabushi Bus Terminal construction, Wike threatened to ensure the lawmaker’s defeat in the 2027 election, challenging them to run under Abuja and promising to “fail” them.
Wike’s remarks were in response to the lawmaker’s criticism of the state of schools and hospitals in the FCT, which they made on Arise TV. The minister questioned the lawmaker’s own contributions to improving education and healthcare, asking how many bills they had sponsored to address these issues.
Wike’s comments were met with a response from Senator Ireti Kingibe (LP-FCT), who appeared on Arise TV and expressed her own concerns about being sidelined in the running of the FCT.
