Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has expressed concerns about how the government spends its foreign exchange reserves. He questioned why the government would import about 500 jeeps from Japan, costing 150,000 dollars each when there are assembly plants in Nigeria that can produce jeeps.
In a video shared by Sahara TV, Falana also spoke about the use of foreign exchange currency for sending people on pilgrimages. He argued that this practice is unnecessary and also against the constitution. He said the government should focus on more important needs rather than catering to the luxurious demands of the elite or funding pilgrims with scarce resources.
In Falana’s words: “How can you ask Japan to send you 500 jeeps at a cost of $150,000 per one when you have assembly plant in the country producing jeeps and other vehicles. You can’t spend money on people going to pilgrimage, looking for dollars for people going to pilgrimage. It is against constitution”..…….See More
