A devastating school building collapse at Saint Academy in Jos has left many in mourning, with multiple fatalities and injuries reported. It was said that the school collapsed at about 8:30 a.m., and this incident claimed the lives of 22 students, while over 100 students had injuries. Reports have it that the incident occurred while students were attending classes, and the school was occupied with over 1000 students.
Amaka Victor, a distraught mother, spoke to reporters about her harrowing experience. She revealed that four of her five children attended school that day, with one narrowly escaping through a window as the building crumbled. Another son, however, remains missing, with Amaka describing how he fell amidst the rubble and was crying out for help before rescuers were forced to leave the scene.
Despite searching the mortuary and hospital, Amaka has yet to locate her missing son. Her anguish is compounded by the halt in rescue operations, which she believes may have cost her precious time in finding her child.
As reported by The Punch News, Amaka Victor said, “One of them, who was in the building, told me that he jumped out through the window as the building was going down. Another of my children fell on the ground with the collapsed building and was shouting and crying before he eventually got help. However, up until now, we have not seen him. I am praying to God to allow me to see my son. But my pain is that those who were making efforts to rescue more survivors were stopped by security operatives who barricaded the place. They should allow them to continue; perhaps they could rescue my son. We have gone to the mortuary and the hospital to check, but we haven’t seen him.”….Seē _ Morē
