Chief Aldophus Wabara, the former Senate President, has revealed that he resigned and that Obasanjo did not remove him from office. To be clear, he denied that he was under any pressure to step down.
Additionally, he stated that he had doubts after learning that his Senate colleagues were being offered bribes totaling 50 million naira. He said that they were bought off so they would support a president’s bid for a third term in power.
During an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, a Nigerian journalist and media figure, Adolphus Wabara discussed these concerns. This video was recently posted on the internet.
He said in the video that he declined a 250 million-naira bribe in order to forward the agenda for a third term. He went on to say that in order to further this objective, each senator was receiving 50 million naira.
While asserting his willingness to resign from the Senate President’s position, Aldophus Wabara said, “When they said they were distributing 50 million naira per senator to support the third term, I did not believe it. I resigned; Obasanjo did not remove me. There was no pressure on me to resign.”.………See More
