If It’s True That Some Aggrieved Youths Burn Down The Home Of Nafiu Bala It Must Be Condemmned-Sowore

‎In a recent statement via his official X account, human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned a reported attack on the residence of Nafiu Bala, a factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

‎”If it is true that some aggrieved youths burned down the home of @ADCNig factional leader Nafiu Bala, it must be condemned in the strongest terms. There should be zero tolerance for political violence in any form. I urge Nigerian security agencies to act swiftly, investigate thoroughly, and bring those responsible to justice without delay. Acts like this only deepen instability and erode democratic values,” he wrote.

‎In his post, Sowore was reacting to claims that some individuals described as aggrieved youths may have set fire to Bala’s home and stated that if the reports are accurate, the act must be strongly condemned, according to him, political violence in any form is unacceptable and poses a serious threat to democracy.

‎He called on Nigerian security agencies to act quickly by investigating the incident thoroughly and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice, Sowore stressed that delays or inaction could encourage further acts of violence and undermine public confidence in law enforcement.

‎The activist warned that incidents like this contribute to instability and weaken democratic institutions, he said political disagreements should never escalate into destruction of property or harm to individuals, in his view, democracy thrives on dialogue, tolerance, and respect for opposing views.

‎Sowore stated that no political party or group should be above accountability, he stated that if members or supporters of any party are involved in violent acts, they must face the consequences of their actions regardless of their affiliation.
