The Nigerian Presidency has issued a new alert over alleged plots to destabilize the country, warning of “forces of evil” bent on spreading chaos and disaster.
In a social media post, Dada Olusegun, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, accused those behind the plans of disseminating lies and attempting to undermine government personnel.
Olusegun offered the example of Governor Zulum’s son, who was wrongly accused of murder and then chastised for his English fluency when he disputed the charges.
“They want to burn the country down,” Olusegun threatened. “Our fiduciary responsibility is to stop them!”
This latest concern follows a prior warning from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, who claimed that followers of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential contender for 2023, is spearheading the planned nationwide protests.
According to Onanuga, the same people who organized the catastrophic ENDSARS rally in 2020 are now planning statewide rallies under the cover of “EndBadGovernance” and “Tinubu Must Go”.
The demonstrators, according to the Presidency, are “anarchists” and “bad losers” who can’t wait until the next election in 2027. Onanuga cautioned that such actions constitute high treason and urged security agents to question individuals implicated.
