Former Edo State Governor and current Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, took a stand on the planned protests in Nigeria, emphasizing the value of constructive dialogue in addressing grievances. He raised concerns about the global perceptions of the government’s performance and stressed the necessity of effective governance in the face of inevitable challenges.
Acknowledging that all governments encounter difficulties and flaws, Oshiomhole cautioned against destructive actions, citing the adverse outcomes of violent protests in countries like Kenya.
He promoted peaceful methods of voicing discontent, highlighting that violence only worsens existing problems and leads to more unrest.
Expressing faith in the government’s receptiveness to public concerns, the Senator advocated for proactive measures to tackle issues and urged for decisive policy-making based on feedback from Nigerian citizens.
He referenced his prior engagements in the Senate where he had brought up critical matters affecting the populace, demonstrating his dedication to addressing these issues through proper channels.
According to an interview with Channels TV, Oshionhole said,
”When last did you hear of people saying that this government is a good government all over the world? Government would always have their challenges and loopholes. The Kenyans that have resorted to protest and destroyed shops, has that delivered relief? I think that nobody will benefit from violence and we have had an unfair share of violence in the past in many areas.”….Seē _ Morē
