According to the report from the Punch, the Founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and the pioneer chairman of the party, Chief Chekwas Okorie has shared his experiences during a tumultuous period in his tenure as the chairman of APGA, alleging that a crisis was instigated by Victor Umeh and sponsored by Peter Obi.
Despite this conflict, he claimed that Umeh would still seek financial assistance from him for travel expenses to Abuja.
He acknowledged that Obi eventually apologized for his involvement and expressed remorse for being misled. He emphasized his initial support for Obi, as he played an instrumental role in securing his nomination and presenting him to the public.
Chekwas Okorie said this while reacting to the question asked about the time the dispute in APGA started
He said, “I was not even allowed to enjoy my tenure as the chairman. I was barely two years as chairman in 2004 when the crisis erupted. It was led by Victor Umeh and sponsored by Peter Obi. This same Victor Umeh was coming to me to collect transport money to come to Abuja for meetings. But Obi didn’t hide it and apologised to me. He regretted it and confessed that he was misled. I was the one who gave him the nomination and raised his hand at the parade ground.”.………See More
