According to Vanguard, Chief Chekwas Okorie, founder and pioneer national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has accused Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State of attempting to undermine and destroy the party.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, Okorie alleged that Soludo’s actions since becoming governor have been aimed at defying the Supreme Court and destabilizing APGA. The Supreme Court recently affirmed Chief Edozie Njoku as the legitimate national chairman of APGA, a decision that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has complied with by recognizing Njoku.
Despite this, Okorie claims Soludo has refused to accept Njoku’s leadership. He revealed that Soludo had personally boasted to him about using his gubernatorial powers to prevent Njoku from becoming chairman, even threatening to resign from APGA and dismantle the party if his efforts failed.
Okorie expressed strong opposition to Soludo’s stance, asserting that only divine intervention could determine the fate of APGA. Despite their disagreements, both Okorie and Njoku have extended an olive branch to Soludo to restore peace within the party. However, Soludo remains unyielding, even as numerous leaders across the country have reached out to him, recognizing him as the primary obstacle to reconciliation in APGA.
He further alleged that Soludo, supported by Chief Victor Oye, has employed various tactics to prevent INEC from complying with the Supreme Court’s judgment until recently. Okorie criticized Soludo’s threat to dismantle APGA if Njoku assumed the chairmanship, emphasizing that Soludo did not possess the power to determine the party’s survival.
He said, “Professor Chukwuma Soludo had boasted to me directly that he would use everything within his powers as the governor of Anambra State, to ensure that Chief Edozie Njoku would never be the National Chairman of APGA.”….Seē _ Morē
