According to Channels Television, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, in the sum of ₦10 billion, with two sureties in like amount.
Mamman faces 12 counts of conspiracy to commit money laundering and possession and use of known proceeds of criminal conduct. In ruling on his bail application, Justice Omotosho stipulated that the sureties must own properties in Abuja valued at a minimum of ₦750 million. Additionally, the sureties are required to submit certified land documents and a three-year tax levy to the court. Mamman must also provide his bank statements and international passports.
Alternatively, Mamman can produce a bank guarantee for the bail amount, negating the need for sureties. The court has scheduled the trial to commence on September 25, 2024.
The bail decision follows Justice Omotosho’s order on Thursday for Mamman to be remanded in Kuje prison pending the consideration of his bail application.
