Jeannette, a teacher from Congo, explained why she agreed to marry Hassan Mamba Remy, a former secondary school student. Despite the big age gap, she said she’s happy with her choice and they’ve been married happily for five years.
Remy talked about how he got the courage to approach his teacher, saying, “We’ve been married for 5 years and have two kids. My wife used to teach me, and she’d come home to help with extra studies, so we spent a lot of time together. Gradually, I found myself falling in love, and during class, I wasn’t paying attention to lessons because I was thinking about her.”
Despite the 12-year age difference, Remy didn’t give up or worry about what others thought. “In the last year before exams, I decided to tell her I loved her, explaining my struggle due to the age gap. She didn’t say no; she asked for time to think,” he said.
Jeannette, surprised by Remy’s confession, said, “I noticed he wasn’t focused in class. At first, I thought he was joking and responded harshly, feeling disrespected. But fate is unpredictable; those we ignore often become meaningful. After he insisted on his feelings, something changed, and I found myself loving him and wanting to see him all the time.”
