In a recent interview with Arise Television, Sumner Sambo, Politics Editor for Arise, offered insights into the political dynamics surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the Rivers State crisis. Sambo highlighted Tinubu’s intense focus on converting lawmakers from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a strategic misstep that impaired his ability to remain impartial.
“President Tinubu was very eager to harvest the lawmakers from the PDP to the APC, and that didn’t let him see clearly what was going wrong and how to play the role of a statesman, so he decided to take sides,” Sambo remarked.
Sambo’s analysis centered on the political entanglements and agreements made at the state level, particularly between a governor and their political mentor. He questioned the governor’s decision to enter into political agreements with their godfather, noting that there were bound to be repercussions.
