Rivers State Governor Siminialaye Fubara has revealed that he was aware that protesters attempting to cause explosion at the Hotel Presidential of state, knew the presence of the federal lawmakers at the hotel. He alleged that their action was to justify their call for a state of emergency in the state.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, amid a protest by the ex-LG chairmen an explosive suspected to be dynamite went off in the bag of an unidentified man believed to be among the pro-police protesters in Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred around the Hotel Presidential axis along the busy Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway
However, reacting to the incident, Fubara noted the failed dynamite explosion in the state capital on Tuesday was planned by the opposition.
Fubara who was quoted telling the federal lawmakers, I know of everything that is happening. Yesterday (Tuesday), they (protesters) were aware that you (lawmakers) are in the state. So, there was an attempt to create a serious problem.
According to Punch, the Governor also lamented the ineffectiveness of the law in the state, questioning “Is it that there is somebody bigger than Nigeria?”
