Senator Shehu Sani, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Kaduna Central lawmaker, has expressed strong opinions regarding the commitment of foreign-based Nigerian footballers to the national team.
This follows comments made by Super Eagles Head Coach Finidi George about Victor Osimhen selectively choosing which games to play for Nigeria, and his refusal to beg the player to participate.
In a statement on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Shehu Sani highlighted the potential rift between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Coach Finidi George, suggesting that this discord might be detrimental to the Super Eagles’ performance.
“There appears to be a crack between the NFF and Coach Finidi George. This is affecting the chances of the Super Eagles. Any foreign-based professional player invited to play for his country and he deliberately refuses to come, shouldn’t be begged,” Sani wrote.
Sani’s remarks come in response to Finidi George’s frustration over Osimhen’s sporadic commitment to the national team. The issue has raised concerns among fans and stakeholders about the dedication of high-profile players to Nigeria’s footballing cause.……..See More
