Mohammed Abdulkarim, a resident of Woro community has raised alarm over the mass abduction of women and children following a recent bandit attack on the area, describing the situation as dire and ongoing.
Abdulkarim spoke during an interview on News Central TV, where he detailed the scale of the crisis confronting residents after armed assailants reportedly stormed the community. The attack, which left homes destroyed and families displaced, has further deepened concerns about insecurity in rural areas.
Sharing his distressing experience, Abdulkarim said, “As I’m speaking to you right now, our children, our wives are abducted into the bush.” His statement underscores the urgency of the situation, as many families remain separated from their loved ones with little information about their whereabouts or condition.
Residents said the attackers arrived in large numbers, firing shots and creating panic before whisking away several victims into nearby forests. The incident has left the community in shock, with survivors now grappling with both emotional trauma and the loss of their means of livelihood.
Community members have called on security agencies to urgently mobilize and launch rescue operations to secure the safe return of those abducted. They also appealed for increased security presence to prevent further incursions by bandits, who have continued to exploit vulnerabilities in remote communities.
