At a recent press briefing, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, highlighted a significant achievement for the indigenous people of Abuja. For the first time since the establishment of the FCT in 1976, an indigenous person from Abuja has been appointed as a permanent secretary, a cabinet minister, and a mandate secretary.
Wike emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating that it marks a new era of recognition and relevance for the indigenous people of Abuja in the administration of the FCT. He praised the current administration for taking steps to address the historical marginalization of the indigenous people and urged that credit be given where due.
In his words;
“Since the Establishment of FCT in 1976, It’s under this adminstration that the indigenous people have been identified and given relevance in administration of FCT. For the first time, you’ve a mandate secretary, you’ve never had it. The mandate secretary of the area council is from Abuja. For the first time, you have a permanent secretary who is also from Abuja. For the first time, you have a cabinet minister from Abuja. This means we’ve started something, so give credit to this administration”………..See More
