President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, recently revealed something unexpected regarding President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s role in the union’s walkout in an interview with Channels Television. Osodeke revealed that during the strike, Tinubu who was then a private citizen informally intervened to express his concern for the country’s educational system.
In addition, Osodeke disclosed that ASUU has formally asked Tinubu to meet in order to give a paper that aims to realign Nigeria’s economic and education system, in addition to discussing union issues. Regretfully, they didn’t hear back.
He said: “We must tell the Nigerian public that the present President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, was one of those who intervened when we were on strike informally. And when we came to him, we also wrote him to request a meeting, not just to discuss our issues but for the academia, the brain of the country. ”
He added that; “We set up a panel to also give him a document that we believe will assist him in repositioning the Nigerian education system and the economy, but we didn’t get a reply.” Said the President of the ASUU Professor Osodeke……..See More
