Human rights activist and two-time presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has sparked fresh debate after delivering a strong critique of Nigeria’s political leadership.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Sowore did not hold back as he expressed confidence in his ability to govern the country. In his words, “I can close my eyes and rule this country better than any of these failed leaders.”
According to him, Nigeria’s major challenge over the years has been poor leadership. He argued that many individuals in power have failed to deliver meaningful results, despite having held public offices for decades.
Sowore pointed to long-standing political figures such as Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar as examples of what he described as a recycled political class. He suggested that many of these leaders have been part of the system since the early 1990s, yet the country continues to struggle with the same issues.
He also questioned the emphasis often placed on political “experience,” stating that what truly matters is measurable impact. According to him, leadership should be judged based on results rather than years spent in office.
Furthermore, Sowore claimed that greed remains a major problem within the political system. He alleged that many leaders lack clear ideology or vision, and are instead driven by personal interests.
When asked about other political figures, including Peter Obi, Sowore maintained that real change cannot come from within the current establishment.
His comments have since sparked conversations, with many Nigerians reflecting on leadership, accountability, and the future of the country……See More
