A celebrated Titanic specialist, a record-breaking adventurer, two members of one of Pakistan’s wealthiest families, and the CEO of the company leading an expedition to the world’s most renowned shipwreck are facing crucial peril aboard a small submersible that went missing in the Atlantic Ocean.
They are:
Stockton Rush
established OceanGate Inc. in 2009 to offer crewed submersibles for undersea researchers and explorers, according to the company’s website. Rush is the pilot of the Titan, stated company spokesperson Andrew Von Kerens.
Hamish Harding
A British entrepreneur residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Action Aviation, an aircraft brokering company where Harding serves as chairman, confirmed him as one of the mission specialists who paid to join the expedition. Harding is an enthusiastic adventurer, having journeyed to space aboard the Blue Origin flight last year and descended to the Challenger Deep in the Pacific Ocean, believed to be the deepest point on Earth.
Shahzada and Suleman Dawood
Father and son, both hailing from one of Pakistan’s most prominent families. Their family released a statement confirming their presence aboard the vessel. The Dawood family oversees some of the largest corporations in the country, with a diverse portfolio encompassing energy, petrochemicals, fertilizers, IT, and food and agriculture.
