Monicah from Gatundu Painfully narrated how she escaped death from the villagers after her mother-in-law lied that she had killed her 1-year-old daughter.
She was born and brought up in Gatundu as the last born in a family of seven kids. After completing her primary education level, she moved to Nairobi where she had secured a job as a nanny.
After working for several years, she met a young man from her village. They dated for several months before they moved in together as husband and wife and later relocated to the village.
According to her, the Inlaws didn’t love her because of how hardworking she was. She used to get a lot of produce from the farm and milk from her cows, unlike her Inlaws. When she delivered her firstborn, her mother-in-law would tell her to stop going to the farm with the baby.
According to her, she would say that she was making her suffer because the baby was named after the mother-in-law. Monicah didn’t listen which made them hate her more.
Due to those misunderstandings, the baby didn’t grow well, she was not able to stand and walk even after attaining one year and 8 months. One day the mother-in-law went to Monica’s homestead and started cursing her.
She told her that her cows would die while giving birth since Monicah was a prayerful woman, she went on her knees and reversed the curse. One week later her mother-in-law’s cow died. The father-in-law went to attack her in her house claiming that she is a witch.
She screamed for help and the neighbours arrived there were people from another village who were called by her Inlaws to attack her. Some villagers who knew the history of the family helped her to escape through the window.
The mother-in-law changed the story and started crying outside that she had killed the baby. She was caught but one wise man asked them not to kill her until they saw the body of the baby she had killed.
Some neighbours had rescued the baby from the scene. The Inlaws didn’t produce the body of the baby she was not attacked. She reported the case but since the head man was related to her Inlaws the case was withdrawn. She moved out of that homestead and rented a house.………See More
