According to a recent video by Church Gist, Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche has clarified the biblical injunction to “turn the other cheek,” insisting it does not imply passive acceptance of lethal violence. Speaking during a recent address, he explained that Jesus’ teaching on non-retaliation, contextualized with going the extra mile and giving one’s cloak, demonstrates love, not a license for murder.
“He did not say if somebody wants to kill you, let him kill you and present your brother for death,” Dr. Enenche stated. He further questioned the practical limits of turning cheeks repeatedly: after both are slapped, “what next?” The clergyman stressed that Scripture must be read in context, rejecting any interpretation that leaves believers helpless against killers.
“In the name of Jesus, this land shall remain the burial ground of those who want to kill the original indigenous of this land,” he declared. Follow Church across all social media platforms for more updates.
His Words: “ What about when Jesus said, “If somebody slaps you on one cheek, turn the other cheek”? Yes, you said that. But read it in the context in which He said it. If somebody wants you to walk one mile, walk two. If he wants your coat, give him your tunic as well.
That is a demonstration of love. That is how you show that you are loving. But He did not say, “If somebody wants to kill you, let him kill you and present your brother for death.”….See More
