Evelyn Ntoko Mase was a nurse from South Africa. She was related to Walter Sisulu, who introduced her to Nelson Mandela, who was also involved in politics. Evelyn and Nelson got married in 1944 and had four children. One of their daughters was named Makaziwe after her sister who passed away as a baby.
Evelyn cared about Nelson and was there for him before he became famous. However, she felt angry when people worshipped him and said that his release from jail was like the second coming of Christ. After being apart from Nelson for 40 years, Evelyn found the courage to get married again in 1998.
