General Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Chief of Army Staff, has stated that he never plotted a coup to seize power from Goodluck Jonathan when Jonathan was acting president
In an interview with NTA, General Dambazau said that in 2010, then-Acting President Jonathan called him at night to inform him that he had heard about 50 trucks of soldiers were on their way from Zaria to Abuja to overthrow his government
General Dambazau said he then reassured Jonathan that the information was false and told him not to panic
In General Dambazau’s words: “In the night, at about 2 a.m I was sleeping. I had phone that was reserved only for the Villa. Then acting President Jonathan called me, he said ‘Chief where are you?’. I said I am in the room sleeping, your call woke me up. He said ‘I just got information that they saw 50 trucks of soldiers coming from Zaria’. I said ‘Please, your Excellency have some rest, don’t allow people to be deceiving you or give you high blood pressure, nothing will happen”……See More
