Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has suggested that his party, the African Action Congress (AAC), could be the sole opposition force remaining by 2027, asserting it is fully prepared to defend itself against any threats.
In an interview with Symfoni TV, Sowore remarked, “Isn’t it possible that, in the end, the AAC might be the only party left? That’s because we addressed our challenges early on. I’m not saying the authorities won’t target the AAC—they certainly have plans for us too. But when they do come, we’re like battle tanks, always ready. And when that moment arrives, we’ll fight back harder than ever before.”
Sowore contended that the current government has a deliberate strategy to weaken or eliminate all serious opposition parties in order to move toward a one-party system.
