Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, has revealed why she stopped attending live football matches, recounting a shocking incident she witnessed at the stadium many years ago.
Speaking during an interview on Behind The Fame African A-List, the respected Yoruba actress shared a personal experience that left a lasting impact on her and ultimately changed her relationship with the sport.
According to Balogun, there was a time she enjoyed watching football matches live at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, especially during the early days after the stadium was constructed. She explained that attending matches was a regular activity she shared with her late husband, Rafiu Balogun.
The actress described those moments as special, noting that she and her husband often attended games together, enjoying the lively atmosphere and bonding over their shared interest. According to her, they would sit together, sometimes holding hands, as they watched matches unfold on the pitch.

Balogun recounted that during a football match at the stadium, a disturbing incident occurred when a spectator suddenly shouted and collapsed. She said the situation quickly turned tragic as the individual reportedly died on the spot.
