According to a report by Leadership, on Thursday April 2, 2026, Ossai Ovie Success, a media aide to the Delta State governor, has challenged Peter Obi to personally test his popularity in northern Nigeria without relying on the political support of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Ossai urged Obi to visit Kano or any other northern state on his own and argued that the crowd that welcomed Obi during his recent visit to Kano should not be taken as a true reflection of his political strength in the region.
According to the aide, the large turnout was largely influenced by Kwankwaso’s established political structure, he claimed that many of those seen cheering Obi were mobilised through that network rather than being genuine supporters of the former Anambra State governor.
Ossai further suggested that Obi could face disappointment if he attempts a solo visit to the North and expressed doubt about Obi’s ability to attract similar crowds without external backing, insisting that a personal test would reveal the reality of his support base.
The aide made controversial claims about the intentions of those who gathered during the Kano visit, he alleged that some individuals in the crowd were more interested in personal gain than genuine political support, this statement has since sparked mixed reactions, especially among Obi’s supporters.
“Tell Peter Obi to visit Kano without Kwankwaso. Forget the crowd gathered by Kwankwaso in Kano shouting ‘Obi’; they just want to scam him. He will be disappointed. He should visit alone. You will be disappointed because I am disappointed,” he said…..See More
