While He Was Governor Of Kaduna, El-Rufai Was Intolerant Towards Voices Of Dissent -Chidi Odinkalu

Chidi Odinkalu, a well-known human rights advocate and former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, has expressed strong criticism of former Kaduna State Governor and ADC figure, Nasir El-Rufai, through a post on his official X account. In his remarks, he suggested that the former governor had a history of showing little tolerance for opposing views.

El-Rufai recently attracted public attention following reports of his re-arrest by the ICPC shortly after he was temporarily released to attend the burial of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. The development sparked widespread debate, with many members of the public describing the situation as politically motivated and suggesting he was being targeted unfairly.

However, in his reaction, Odinkalu took a different stance. He argued that during El-Rufai’s time as governor of Kaduna State, he was known for his harsh response to criticism and was often intolerant of dissenting opinions. According to the human rights lawyer, individuals who opposed or criticized the former governor frequently faced backlash.

To support his position, Odinkalu also referenced reports and documented complaints allegedly made by those who experienced or observed the former governor’s actions while in office.

He made these comments in a post shared on April 1, 2026, via his official X handle…..See More
