The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has joined the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and other senior military officers in Maiduguri for an operational visit aimed at strengthening ongoing security efforts in the North-East.

According to a media post by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, media aide to the minister, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the visit is aimed at strengthening coordination and boosting the morale of troops engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the region.

It was revealed that the Defence Minister had earlier arrived at the Nigerian Air Force Base Maiduguri, accompanied by senior military officers from the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The high-level engagement is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to assess operational progress, enhance synergy among security agencies, and reinforce strategies aimed at tackling insurgency.

However, the joint presence of both ministers underscores the government’s commitment to restoring peace, safeguarding lives and property, and sustaining military gains across insurgency-affected communities in the North-East.
