Ambush: The Army Received A Distress Call That Bandits Were Going To Attack A Community -Gov Idris

According to a report by Channels TV, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has said that security agencies received prior intelligence before the recent ambush in the state, explaining that the military was responding to an emergency alert about an impending bandit attack on a rural community. According to him, the army acted after receiving a distress call that armed bandits were moving toward the area, prompting soldiers to mobilise immediately to protect residents.

Governor Idris explained that while the troops were heading to the community, they were ambushed by the criminals, leading to an exchange of gunfire. He noted that the soldiers showed courage despite the surprise attack and insisted that the operation was aimed at preventing heavy casualties among villagers. “The army received a distress call that bandits were going to attack a community, and while responding, they were ambushed on the way,” he said.

He added that the state government remains committed to supporting security agencies in tackling banditry and restoring peace in affected areas. The governor also urged residents to continue sharing useful information with security operatives to help prevent future attacks and strengthen local safety measures.
