In a recent interview with Channels TV, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria said when he disclosed that 135 billion naira was given to state governors as part of a COVID-19 relief program in December last year, a presidential aide named Tope Ajayi accused him of exaggerating the amount.
However, Falana stated that the federal government has revealed that the total amount given to states over the past nine months is actually 573 billion naira. He said this total includes the earlier 135 billion naira in December and an additional 438 billion naira in July.
In Falana’s words: “In December when I disclosed that 135 billion naira had been given out as part of COVID 19 program to the states, I was abused by one of the presidential aide, I think one Tope Ajayi. He came out to lambast me that I was exaggerating the figure. Now happily, the federal government has now been compelled to say the total sum of 573 billion naira had gone to the states in the last nine months. In order words, the 135 billion naira and the 438 billion naira, totalling 573 billion naira”….Seē_Morē
