The Arewa Youth Assembly has condemned former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s comments on live TV, which they deem offensive to Northerners. Fayose suggested that high birth rates among Northerners hinder the federal government’s ability to develop Nigeria.
Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker of the Assembly, labeled Fayose an “enemy of the North” and urged Northerners to join protests across the 19 Northern states and FCT Abuja, unless Fayose apologizes.
Danlami stated, “We have also declared him (Fayose) an enemy of the North… Since protesting is our constitutional right, I am calling on all Northerners to come out and join the protest… unless former Governor Fayose apologizes to our people.”
According to a new report by Vanguard, the controversy has intensified ethnic tensions, sparking concerns about potential violence and deeper divisions. The situation remains fluid as observers await Fayose’s response.
“We were instrumental to the emergence of Tinubu as APC Presidential candidate and his victory in the Presidential election,” Danlami emphasized, highlighting the North’s significant role in Tinubu’s success….Seē _ Morē
