Lawyer and human rights activist Liborous Oshoma has asserted that the President has not interacted with the media since assuming office nearly a year ago.
He emphasized that frequent media engagements could have eased public tension.
Oshoma proposed that the President form a five-member committee to address the protesters’ concerns.
He argued that the President should demonstrate solidarity with the public by cutting governance costs.
He went further stressing that mutual sacrifices between the government and citizens would more effectively convey the message of shared hardship.
In Liborous Oshoma’s words in a video (7:43), he said, “I’m surprised that since the President took office, he has not had any media chat. Because this consistent conversation will help to douse tension. They had to beg the President to address the Nation and when the address eventually came, it didn’t even address the issues. And even if at all, you should have pretended to address some of the issues. The President said people should come and negotiate and that he’s ready for dialogue.”….Seê_Morê
