A protester in Lagos has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop the distribution of palliatives to Nigerians, saying that some people are using the initiative to enrich themselves.
According to the report by The Cable on Thursday, the protesters who gathered at Ojota, Lagos, said that Nigerians are not beggars, but are healthy people who can work with their hands.
The unidentified protester said that the lawmakers should be part-time and not full-time because they are too much. He said that the lawmakers are making laws that favour the masses.
He said, “We don’t want palliatives anymore. We’re not beggars. We’re hardworking people. Nigerians are not beggars. They should stop it. They are using those palliatives to enrich their pockets. We don’t want palliatives. We are healthy people. We can work for ourselves.”
Speaking further, the protester added, “His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, please I’m begging you in the name of God, they should cancel palliatives… Let the lawmakers become part-time. It should be part-time. Not full-time. They are too many. We have House of Reps (members), over 300. We have senators, 109. They are too many.
“We don’t need them, they are not representing us. Go to our roads, our roads are bad. All the money allocated to them, what are they using it to do? We don’t want them. Please, the lawmakers should become part-time.”
Speaking further, he said that people are suffering and dying of hardship, and that there are no basic amenities in the country for the citizens.
