In a recent report by The Sun, Chief Audu Ogbeh, the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s former presidents.
Chief Ogbeh said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is highly intelligent but sometimes indulges in mischief for fun.
When discussing late President Umaru Yar’Adua, Ogbeh stated that Yar’Adua was a quiet and honest man but faced health challenges. He described former President Goodluck Jonathan as a kind person who lacked experience at the time.
Ogbeh also said that former President Muhammadu Buhari brought a sense of stability and had the trust of many in the far North. He said Buhari was a calm and disciplined leader but some powerful individuals undermined his administration.
In Ogbeh’s words: “Well, I don’t like giving them marks. Obasanjo was a very intelligent man, he is, sometimes, full of mischief. I said so once, he said I was cheeky. But that is the truth. He dabbles in mischief just for fun. And so, Obasanjo, like I said, we sat down and decided no Northerner should contest the election in 1999. That was why at the Jos convention, there was no Northerner. Yar’Adua was a quiet guy, his health wasn’t too good, but a good man, straightforward, honest fellow”….Seē _ Morē
